This interactive training for trainers goes beyond showing you what’s in the curriculum. It provides you with a solid professional development opportunity. You will deepen your knowledge of and ability to teach others about:

  • The developmental stages of early language and literacy
  • Environments that nurture early language and literacy
  • Use of language and literacy to promote positive behavior
  • Engaging and collaborating with families  

 

What is the Cradling Literacy Curriculum?

This training curriculum provides you with 12 ready-to-go training sessions tailored to child care provider’s learning needs.  Everything you need is here presentation notes, guidance for leading activities, trainer preparation notes, trainer background articles, reflective exercises, PowerPoint slides, video clips, and handouts.

Purpose of the Training for Trainers

This training prepares participants to work with teachers on their capacity to support early language and literacy development. It provides a holistic approach to the understanding of early language and literacy, cradling it in the context of early development, important caregiving relationships and family culture. The Cradling Literacy approach helps caregivers deepen their understanding, knowledge and skills.

You will learn strategies for encouraging

  • Emergent literacy in children who are learning two languages
  • Social-emotional literacy in young children
  • Early learning through storytelling
  • Young children’s cultural identity
  • Relationships that promote early language and literacy development

Who should attend?
Trainers, program directors, supervisors, administrators and college instructors and professors, consultants and mentors are encouraged to attend.
