Coming Together Around Military Families® staff
recently had the chance to talk with Ellen DeVoe of Boston University
who, with her team, has developed the “parenting cycle of deployment” model. This
model characterizes how parenting and parent relationships change over the
course of a deployment. Read the interview.
In this
longitudinal study, researchers were trying to understand the experiences
of a sample of youth in military families and their nondeployed parents. They
wanted to understand what the experience of parental deployment was like for
teenagers and what their experiences were academically, socially, and
emotionally.
